Strawberry Counter - Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2 January 2026

Strawberry Counter analyzes photos entirely on your device. We do not upload your photos or detection results to our servers.

What we collect

โ€ข Account (required): Google Sign-In via Firebase Authentication. We receive your Firebase UID and your Google account email (required) and, when available, your Google display name, for in-app identification and subscription entitlement. Signing in is required to access the paywall and use the app.

โ€ข Single-device enforcement: a random, app-scoped device ID (stored on your device) and heartbeat timestamps in your Firestore user record (e.g., active_device_id, last_seen). This lets us keep one active device per account.

โ€ข Purchase status: subscription metadata from RevenueCat / Google Play (e.g., trial eligibility, active entitlement, renewal/cancellation state). We never receive your full payment details.

What stays on your device

โ€ข Photos you capture or select (original images).

โ€ข Detection overlay images showing bounding boxes around detected flowers and fruits are generated temporarily for on-screen preview only and are not saved to your gallery or exported. They may exist briefly in app cache and can be removed when the app clears temporary files or when you clear app data.

โ€ข Your detection results (flower counts, fruit counts by stage). We do not collect them; therefore we do not use them for model training or analytics.

โ€ข App settings (e.g., detection confidence thresholds).

โ€ข Files you save to your gallery and any CSVs you choose to email/share.

โ€ข Each CSV row includes time, flower count, green fruit count, pink fruit count, red fruit count, and total count. User name (Google display name when provided), Email, and Device ID are included for traceability.

Permissions we request & why

โ€ข Camera โ€” to capture strawberry plant photos.

โ€ข Photos/Media/Storage โ€” to pick from your gallery and to save captured photos and CSV exports. On older Android versions we may request legacy storage permission.

โ€ข Internet โ€” to sign in with Google, validate subscription status with RevenueCat/Google Play, and enforce single-device access.

โ€ข Email / share intent (optional) โ€” only when you tap "Share CSV"; we open your mail app with the file attached. We do not read your emails.

How we use your data

โ€ข To authenticate and authorize your account (Firebase Authentication).

โ€ข To enforce one active device per account (Firestore device fields).

โ€ข To provide and validate subscriptions and free trials (RevenueCat + Google Play).

โ€ข We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Data security & retention

All network traffic is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). Firestore stores only minimal account and device fields linked to your Firebase UID. We retain these while your account or subscription remains active. You can delete this cloud data at any time: Account & Subscription โ†’ Delete account. This removes your Firestore user record (including device and entitlement metadata). It does not cancel your Google Play subscription and it does not delete files stored on your device.

Third-party processors

โ€ข Firebase (Google) โ€” Authentication and Cloud Firestore (account/device metadata).

โ€ข RevenueCat โ€” Subscription management integrated with Google Play Billing.

Your choices

โ€ข Using the app requires signing in with a Google account. You can sign out at any time; functionality will be unavailable until you sign in again.

โ€ข You can manage, pause, or cancel your subscription anytime in Google Play.

โ€ข Delete your account and cloud data anytime from Account & Subscription โ†’ Delete account. This removes your Firestore user record (account/device/subscription metadata). Deleting your account does not cancel your Google Play subscription and does not delete files stored on your device.
